Cleaning in Castlemaine, Campbells Creek and Chewton
Castlemaine is a weekend town. Cottages and old houses fill up with visitors from Melbourne on Friday night and empty again on Sunday afternoon. We turn over short stays and clean homes in Castlemaine, Campbells Creek and Chewton.

The Sunday-to-Friday turnover
Castlemaine is on the V/Line Bendigo line from Melbourne's Southern Cross, about an hour and a half by train, which makes it an easy weekend away. That shapes the short-stay week here. Often guests check out on Sunday or Monday, the place sits quiet midweek, and it needs to be ready again by Friday afternoon. It's a friendlier rhythm than back-to-back city bookings, because there's usually a day or two of slack, but it also means a missed clean isn't noticed until the next guests open the door.
Then there are the busy weekends. The Castlemaine State Festival fills the town with visitors for ten days in March (the 2026 festival ran from 20 to 29 March), and the Harcourt Applefest up the road falls in March too. On those weeks, check-outs and check-ins line up, and a host needs a clean in every gap. Send us the dates early.
Cottages, chimneys and creaky floors
A lot of Castlemaine, Campbells Creek and Chewton was built in the gold years, and Mount Alexander Shire has heritage controls over parts of Castlemaine, including the precinct along Forest Street and Forest Creek. The houses guests love here are the ones with character: timber floors, open fireplaces, pressed-metal ceilings and claw-foot baths. They need a gentle hand. Old timber floors don't want to be flooded with a wet mop, fireplaces leave ash that drifts, and original tiles and fittings need cleaning without being scoured.
Older houses can also hide older materials. The Better Health Channel says homes built before 1990 may contain asbestos and that you can't tell by looking, so in older homes we clean surfaces gently and never sand, drill or scrape old sheeting or flaking paint.
Homes, not just stays
Plenty of people live here full-time, working locally, in Bendigo or down the line in Melbourne. A regular clean on a set day, a deep clean after a winter of wood smoke, or an end-of-lease clean before you hand back the keys: it's the same care, with a list written for your house.
