What the job involves

A deep clean goes where a regular clean doesn't have time to. The surfaces you see every day get done, and then we work through the places that collect grime slowly and quietly: the tops of door frames, light switches and the wall around them, skirting boards, the tracks of sliding doors and windows, grout lines in the shower, the inside of kitchen cupboards and drawers, the gap beside the stove.

It takes longer than a regular clean, often a lot longer, and it's planned room by room. We agree the list with you first, so you know what's being done and what isn't, and so the time goes where it matters most to you.

People book a deep clean before guests arrive for Christmas or Easter, after a long winter of the heater running, before starting regular cleans from a clean slate, or when they've just bought a place that needs a fresh start. It's also a sensible first clean for a short-stay property before its first guest.

Step by step

  1. Tell us about the place

Bedrooms, bathrooms, living areas, and what bothers you most. Photos of the worst bits help us quote properly.

  2. Free quote and a room-by-room list

We agree what's on the list and what isn't, and how long it's likely to take, before any work starts.

  3. A day that suits

Deep cleans usually take most of a day. We pick a day with you and sort out access if you won't be home.

  4. Top to bottom, room by room

We start high and work down, so dust falls onto floors that haven't been done yet, and finish each room before the next.

  5. A walk-through at the end

If you're there, we walk through it with you. If not, you get photos of each room when it's done.

What's included

  • Everything in a regular clean, in every room
  • Skirting boards, door frames and the tops of doors you can reach from the floor
  • Light switches and the marks around them wiped
  • Inside kitchen cupboards and drawers, emptied by you or by us
  • Shower grout scrubbed and the tiles detailed
  • Window and sliding door tracks cleaned out
  • Inside the fridge and the oven, if you add them
  • Marks on walls spot-cleaned where the paint allows

Not part of this clean

  • Outdoor areas, sheds and garages
  • Moving heavy furniture to clean underneath
  • Mould on walls or ceilings that's coming back through the paint (it needs the cause fixed, not just a wipe)

Worth knowing

  • Mould that keeps coming back is a sign of damp or poor ventilation. We'll clean the surface, but we won't call it fixed.
  • We don't move heavy furniture or work from ladders, so high spots are cleaned only as far as we can safely reach from the floor.

How pricing works

Deep cleans are quoted, free, before any work starts. The price depends on the size of the home, how long since its last proper clean, and what's on the list. Inside cupboards, the oven and the fridge add time, so they're itemised in the quote and you can choose. If you'd like a deep clean followed by regular visits, we'll quote both together, and the regular price will reflect a home that starts clean.

Where the build-up hides

The places a deep clean spends its time are the ones nobody looks at until they do:

  • Light switches and door frames. Hands touch them every day, and the grime builds up slowly enough that it's invisible until it's gone.
  • Window and sliding door tracks. Dust, leaves and grit settle in the tracks and make doors stiff.
  • Shower grout. Soap scum and mildew settle into the lines between tiles, especially in bathrooms that stay damp through winter.
  • Inside cupboards and drawers. Crumbs, spills and the dust that comes in every time they open.
  • Skirting boards. A ledge at exactly the height a vacuum never quite reaches.

Older homes

Plenty of homes around Bendigo and Castlemaine are old, with timber floors, painted skirtings and original tiling. We clean what's there gently. Paint applied many decades ago can be fragile, so we spot-clean marks where the paint allows rather than scrubbing back to bare timber. If something looks damaged or unsafe to clean, we leave it, tell you, and photograph it.

Common questions

How long does a deep clean take?

Longer than a regular clean, often most of a day for a family home. The quote gives you an idea, and it depends on the size and how much build-up there is.

Do I need to empty the cupboards?

It helps, and it keeps the price down. If you'd rather we did it, we'll take things out, clean inside and put them back, and quote the extra time.

Is a deep clean the same as an end-of-lease clean?

Close, but not the same. An end-of-lease clean is done in an empty house to your agent's checklist, before the final inspection. Our end-of-lease page has the detail.

Can you clean the grout properly?

We scrub grout lines back as far as cleaning will take them. Grout that's cracked, stained deep into the surface or missing needs regrouting, which isn't a cleaning job.

Can you deep clean before my regular cleans start?

Yes, and if it's been a while it's often the best way to start. The regular visits then keep the home at that level.

How much does a deep clean cost?

It depends on the size of the home and what's on the list. Send a few details, and photos of the worst bits, for a free quote before any work starts.
