What the job involves

Moving is the one time a house is empty, and empty is the easiest time to clean it properly. Before you move in, that means inside every cupboard and wardrobe before your things go in, the kitchen and bathrooms done as if they're new to you (because they are), and the floors done edge to edge with nothing in the way.

Selling is a different brief. The aim is a house that photographs well and walks well on inspection day. That's clean glass and mirrors, a kitchen and bathrooms that look cared for, floors without marks, and the details buyers notice when they open cupboards, look in the oven or slide a door. We can clean before the photographer comes, and again before the first open home if the house has been lived in between.

Either way, we agree a room-by-room list first, so you know what's being done before we start.

Step by step

  1. Tell us about the move

Moving in or selling, the suburb, the size of the house, the dates that matter (keys, photos, the first open home) and whether it'll be empty.

  2. Free quote and a list

We quote a room-by-room list, and tell you if the timing between keys and moving day is tight.

  3. Booked around your dates

Between getting the keys and the removalists, or before the photographer arrives, on a day that fits the move.

  4. Room by room, edge to edge

Cupboards inside, kitchen and bathrooms throughout, glass and mirrors, then the floors last so nothing is tracked back through.

  5. Photos when it's done

You get photos of each room, handy when you're managing a move or a sale from somewhere else.

What's included

  • Inside every cupboard, drawer and wardrobe
  • Kitchen cleaned throughout, including the oven if you add it
  • Bathrooms and laundry cleaned top to bottom
  • Skirting boards, door frames, doors and light switches wiped down
  • Window and sliding door tracks cleaned out, and glass you can reach from the floor
  • Floors vacuumed and mopped edge to edge
  • A second, lighter clean before an open home, if you'd like one

Not part of this clean

  • Removing rubbish or belongings left by the previous owner
  • Styling, staging or moving furniture into place
  • Gardens, lawns and outdoor areas

Worth knowing

  • We clean the house as it is. Damage, worn finishes and marks that won't lift are for a repairer or painter, and we'll tell you if we find any.
  • We don't move furniture or heavy belongings into or out of the house.

How pricing works

Move-in and pre-sale cleans are quoted, free, before any work starts. The price depends on the size of the house, whether it's empty, how much build-up there is, and what's on the list. An empty house is quicker to clean thoroughly than a furnished one. If you're selling and want a clean before photos and a lighter one before the first open home, we'll quote the pair together.

Moving in

The best clean a house ever gets is the one before anything goes in. Cupboards are empty, floors are clear, and nothing has to be moved out of the way. It's also the moment you find out how the last people lived, which is a good reason to have it done before your plates go in the kitchen drawers.

Selling

Buyers decide quickly. A clean house looks cared for, and that comes through in the listing photos and on inspection day. We focus on what buyers notice: glass and mirrors, the kitchen benches and oven, the bathrooms, the tracks of sliding doors, and the floors. If the house is still lived in between photos and open homes, a lighter clean before each open home keeps it looking the way it did in the photos.

Common questions

Is this the same as an end-of-lease clean?

It's the same kind of empty-house clean, but the brief is yours, not an agent's. If you're a renter moving out, our end-of-lease page explains how we work to your agent's checklist.

When should the clean happen when I'm moving in?

After you get the keys and before the removalists arrive, if you can manage the gap. Even half a day makes a difference.

Do I need to be there?

No. Leave a key in a lockbox, or arrange access through your agent, and we'll send you photos when we're done.

Can you clean before the listing photos?

Yes. Tell us the photographer's date and we'll clean the day before or that morning, so glass, benches and floors are at their best.

The house has been empty for months. Is that a problem?

Not at all. Dust and cobwebs build up in an empty house, and the first clean takes a little longer. The quote will allow for it.

How much does a move-in or pre-sale clean cost?

It depends on the size of the house and what's on the list. Send a few details for a free quote before any work starts.
